The Purpose of a Court Ordered DUI Evaluation.
Illinois law requires that every individual arrested for driving under the influence in the State of Illinois to complete a court ordered DUI Evaluation prior to his or her DUI sentencing. The purpose of your DUI Evaluation is to determine the extent of your alcohol and/or drug use, including your risk to public safety. Such determination is made by a licensed DUI Evaluator assessing your past and present use of substances, including the DUI Evaluator reviewing your driving record. The State of Illinois has reserved Risk Classifications for DUI offenders based on their past/present use of substances, results or refusal of chemical testing, and history of prior DUI arrests. An offender’s assigned Risk Classification is provided to the adjudicating court through the offender’s completed DUI Evaluation. The criteria for each Risk Classification and the State’s minimally prescribed service/treatment can be observed by clicking each Risk Classification and the corresponding service/treatment links provided below:
- Minimal Risk: Requires the completion of 10 hours DUI Risk Education
- Moderate Risk: Requires the completion of 10 hours DUI Risk Education, 12 hours of Early Intervention Services, and developed Continuing Care Plan.
- Significant Risk: Requires the completion of 10 hours DUI Risk Education, including 20-hours of substance abuse treatment, and engagement in Continuing Care.
- High Risk: Requires the completion of 75 hours of treatment and continuing care.
As applicable, the Illinois Circuit Court will mandate the completion of these services/treatment. Nevertheless, the Illinois Secretary of State will require completion of the applicable services/treatment prior to fully restoring an individual’s driving privileges. Rogerian Solutions is licensed in the State of Illinois to deliver Minimal Risk, Moderate Risk, Significant Risk, and High Risk DUI Services/treatment.

It is quite common for an individual to need an “Updated DUI Evaluation” conducted prior to having a hearing with the Illinois Secretary of State to receive a restricted driving permit, renew a restricted driving permit, or to fully restore driving privileges. This is due to an individual having an expired DUI Evaluation. In order to qualify for a hearing with the Illinois Secretary of State’s Department of Administrative Hearings, an offender’s DUI Evaluation can not be older than 180 days from the time of his/her hearing. There are instances when the the Illinois Secretary of State will request an individual to have an “Investigative Alcohol and Drug Evaluation” conducted. More information pertaining to an Investigative Alcohol and Drug Evaluation can be found by clicking Investigative Alcohol and Drug Evaluations.
Non-Illinois Residents: If you driver’s license is revoked in the State of Illinois for driving under the influence, please refer to the Illinois Secretary of State’s “Out-of-State Resident Reinstatement Application.” Page 2 of this application instructs Non-Illinois Residents to work with a licensed Evaluator/Treatment Provider within their State of residence.
A Common Question is, "Who Can Complete My DUI Evaluation?"
Please note, only providers that have met the standards of the Department of Human Services Division of Substance Use Prevention & Recovery may conduct your DUI Evaluation. The Division of Substance Use Prevention & Recovery provides specific DUI training and issues a specific DUI Evaluation license that providers must possess in order to conduct your DUI Evaluation. It’s highly recommended that you have your DUI Evaluation conducted by an experienced and skilled DUI Evaluator for the Illinois Secretary of State’s Department of Administrative Hearings. Rogerian Solutions possesses the licensing and qualified staff needed to conduct your DUI Evaluation.
